Lorena is an accomplished Project and Business Manager with over 15 years of executive leadership in sustainable development and community empowerment across Central America. She excels in strategic program design, large-scale project implementation, and financial stewardship, having scaled multi-million-dollar initiatives that deliver measurable results in education, youth empowerment, and rural entrepreneurship. Her expertise includes donor engagement, grant management, and cross-cultural team development for partners such as ESKALA, World Renew, Cornell University, and USAID-funded programs. Lorena has strengthened thousands of families and businesses through innovative financial literacy, capacity building, and long-term economic solutions. Lorena holds a B.S. in Business Administration from California State University, and is pursuing an MBA in International Finance, she brings proven operational excellence and a passion for equitable, high-impact education programs to PIER’s work in the Bay Islands.

Ruth Mendoza
WECC Teacher
Ruth Daniela Moya Mendoza is a Honduran educator born in Tegucigalpa. She holds a degree in Basic Education (Cycles I and II) from the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional Francisco Morazán, completed in 2022 and is a licensed Honduran educator. With professional experience spanning multiple institutions, she has taught students from first through ninth grade. She officially joined PIER as the West End Community Centre Lead Teacher in early 2026. “Profa Ruth”, as the kids at the Centre call her, lives with her husband & your daughter in West End and is excited to be able to contribute to the local community and to the work of PIER and the West End Community Centre.
